Settings and shortcuts

Settings are stored locally and apply across wheeljack unless a control is explicitly project-specific.

Settings areas

Appearance: built-in or imported themes, typography, UI scale, and terminal colors.
Workspace: sidebar and utility presentation, visible workspace elements, and layout density.
Shortcuts: searchable, customizable bindings with conflict detection.
Agents: adapter detection, verification, launch defaults, models, access, and autonomy policies.
Application: local storage, backup export, update checks, and reset controls.

Imported VS Code themes are read and converted into wheeljack’s theme model. A theme import does not give wheeljack control over VS Code or its extensions.

Essential default shortcuts

Ctrl/Cmd means Control on Windows and Command on macOS.

The command palette always displays the active binding. Shortcut recording rejects conflicts instead of assigning one key sequence to two actions.

Back up local state

Use Application → Storage → Export complete backup to save a folder containing a consistent SQLite snapshot, referenced image attachments, and a checksum manifest. Keep the whole folder together. Export database only saves just SQLite; it does not include the image files. Both capture current write-ahead-log state.

Store the backup outside wheeljack’s live app-data directory. Existing files are not overwritten. Project folders and the agent CLIs’ credentials are separate.

Choose Restore backup, select the complete backup folder, and review its date, project/session counts, and attachments. Confirm Restore on next launch, then quit and reopen wheeljack. Restore replaces workspace state and settings, without changing project files. A complete pre-restore recovery backup is saved under the app-data folder before replacement. Attachment paths are relocated automatically; project folders must still exist at their saved locations.

Checksums, SQLite integrity, and schema compatibility are checked before staging and again at startup. If staging changes or restore cannot finish, the current profile remains available and Storage shows the error.

Reset settings

Resetting settings is different from removing projects or deleting the local database. Read the confirmation shown for the specific action.
